My husband and I were on a Sunday afternoon ride and stopped at the Crab Trap. From the outside there were several cars so it looked like they had a few customers. When we went inside it was pretty obvious there were more waitresses than customers because it was pretty empty. We ordered and waited probably 30 minutes for food that should have in no way taken that long to prepare. The waitress told us she had been back to ask for our food several times and was screamed at for asking. The food was decent but don't think I would choose this place again.

Great feel to the place but the food was undesirable to say the least. Good cold beer.

The fact that the parking spots were empty on a weekend, should've been a red flag but there were beer signs that lured us. We stepped to the "bar" and ordered a $14 pitcher of the local IPA from the bartender. The waitress awkwardly waited behind us to the point that we decided to let her seat us. We decided to split the Fishermen's Platter, $17 for your of 3 options from the $11 seafood options. I chose crap cake (yes, it only came with one), fried scallops and clam strips. The fried scallops were horrible! Everything tasted overcooked, and as if the grease they were fried in was old. The whole platter was brought out in a styrofoam box that was melted in spots because they placed the hot fried food directly in the box, no wax paper or aluminum lining. And then there was the hair that I found, I mentioned both the hair and the melted styrofoam to the waitress and she said "I'll tell her". She then brought out the check, not so much as I'm sorry, can I replace or exchange what you didn't eat" nothing. Oh yeah, I lied, she said "would you like a soda for the road, I won't charge you?" That was kind of nice but we were on a motorcycle so that wasn't an option. I overheard the bartender calling who was apparently the owner and explaining that they were dead and only two customers has been there for hours and asked if she could close early. So, if you insist on checking this place out, you may want to call and make sure they're not closed.

Well, a key selling feature of this place (which, apparently, is also known as "The Outpost"?) is that it's the only place in Tellico Plains that serves beer - and a good selection of beer including some craft offerings. My friend and I arrived in Tellico Plains after a long day of motorcycling and got checked into our (awesome) lodgings when our host directed to the Crab Trab. I had a good feed of fried catfish and a great crab cake. My buddy went with the pulled pork and was duly impressed as well. I didn't get the name of our server, but she was great - friendly as you'd expect, and laughed at all our stupid jokes too. Given that Tellico Plains sits at the end of a great motorcycle ride, I imagine I'll be back again.

Avoid this place at all cost! The only reason this place is open its the only restaurant in Tellico that serves beer. Waitress had no idea what was on menu, claimed the "new menu confused her" Ordered fried scallops, as small as a new born popcorn shrimp! SMALL greasy, and clearly fried in rancid oil. Crab-cakes definitly not homemade, over spiced & still frozen in middle. Waitress said "Oh we are busy" [NOTE;ONLY 2 OTHER TABLES TAKEN] Crab fritters also disgusting, cold in middle not home-made as menu states.Rice very overcooked, veggies as mushy as grandmas wall paper paste, all sides taste as if they sat in double boiler all day! PHOTOS NOT FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Would give 0 stars if i could. called next day to talk to owner CRYSTAL, but she was not there. Save your money and move on because this place isn't cheap!

The best part of our day, was riding The Tail of the Dragon. The worst part of the day, was our meal at this restaurant. Although the restaurant appears to be newly renovated, the food was poor to fair. The waitress really tried to make our experience a good one, but the restaurant was severely understaffed. We had a large group-more than ten- and it took over two hours to get everyone fed. By then, everyone was "fed up" with this restaurant. Do yourself a favor, and keep on riding past this one...

This place is amazing. The food will blow you away. They are working on the place, so by summer, it will be fantastic. Get the Grouper blackened or the Buffalo Grouper sandwich. Killer. The food is fresh and sourced from Florida. What a hidden GEM. Go here, so they don't close. Ice cold beer too!!!! Bike parking, out front.

Based on other reviews, this place was 50/50. Food wasn't great, but not scary. Staff was a hot mess, though, and service was horrible. Just don't, and avoid the frustration at the end of an otherwise great day in this beautiful area.

Rating 2 stars for great clam chowder. All the rest was sub par. Food came cold & had to be reheated. Really cold inside, no heater. Food is nothing to write home about & staff seemed sleepy. Came to watch a game on TV at 3:30 on a Monday. Maybe it's better for dinner...

This was one of the most terrible lunches I've had in a long while. To start with, Not only did we have to seat ourselves, but, we had to get our own menus. After a 10 minute wait ( there was only 4 other tables with customers at that time) the waitress finally came to take our drink order. She returned with all 6 of them, but, only brought one straw. After taking our order, we waited an additional 5 minutes and requested more straws once again. The food arrived 20 minutes later, all three orders with fries were cold and greasy. One gentleman did not receive his Cole slaw until after he finished his meal. When he asked for it for the third time, she smarted off to him making a statement that it wasn't her fault...she was waiting on the cook....huh? Another ordered the "all you can eat" fish dinner....he had to ask twice for more fish...my ceasar salad was small...about the size of a side salad...for 7.95, I was expecting something a little larger. Not once did she return to refill our drinks, even after we requested a refill. The afternoon ended with her bringing us our checks before we were finished eating...Our bill came to $22.83. We handed her two twenty dollar bills...she returned with our change, I'm guessing she already knew that her tip wasn't going to be great because she gave us $7.00 in change back....when we asked where the rest of the money was, her answer was "I put two fives in there!". Now, I'm no math wiz, but even IF she did, $12 is not proper change for a $23 bill when she was handed $40 ....this is one place I'll never return to...

I have to say I'm not a fan. I ordered a shrimp po' boy and it was not at all what I expected. I will admit the shrimp was well cooked, but other than that it was kind of gross. It was on a stale hamburger bun and had nacho cheese on top. I can look past a bun; but who puts cheap tasting nacho cheese on shrimp??! If you are going to do that- at least say it on the menu! Also, my hubby got some free hair with his BBQ. Beer was good though.

We didn't try the food, but stopped in for a beer after a drive along the Skyway and some other sight seeing. I'm pretty sure it's the only place in town that serves beer and I was sick of buying the over priced Bud Light from the gast station. Sat for a minute in the air conditioning and had a couple Newcastles. Service was friendly and on top of it. I was happy just to be able to go out and have a beer rather than drinking out of our cooler on the porch at the lodge. Next time I'll try the food!
